Jennifer M. Daniels was appointed as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Barnes & Noble, Inc., in 2007.
As general counsel and corporate secretary, Ms. Daniels is responsible for all legal matters for Barnes & Noble, Inc. and its subsidiaries, including coordination with outside counsel. She provides guidance to the company and its Board of Directors on all corporate governance and Securities and Exchange Commission matters, including public disclosures.

Prior to joining Barnes & Noble, Inc., Ms. Daniels held senior positions in IBM’s legal department, where she served as an attorney for over 16 years, including: vice president, assistant general counsel, and chief trust and compliance officer with worldwide responsibility for IBM’s legal and regulatory compliance; vice president and assistant general counsel for litigation with worldwide responsibility for IBM’s litigation and regulatory inquiries; and vice president and general counsel for IBM Americas, where she managed a team of approximately 95 lawyers and professionals in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
Ms. Daniels holds a bachelor’s degree in history and English from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. She resides in Connecticut with her husband and two children. |
